Looking Back at Our First Cassill Motors Block Party

On August 31st, 2026, the Cassill Motors lot looked a little different than usual.

Instead of rows of vehicles, we welcomed local businesses, food vendors, families, artists, and community members for our first-ever Cassill Motors Block Party!

The idea behind the event was simple: create an evening where people could come together, have some fun, and support businesses and organizations from right here in our community. After months of planning, it was exciting to finally see everything come together.

Bringing the Community Together

Throughout the evening, our lot was filled with local vendors, food and treats, shopping, activities, bounce houses, and families enjoying the night.

Guests had the chance to discover everything from locally made treats, candles, plants, and 3D-printed items to permanent jewelry, custom license plates, apparel, a DIY perfume bar, henna tattoos, and so much more. Kids could also enjoy the bounce houses and other activities throughout the evening.

Our community is full of talented makers, small businesses, local organizations, and entrepreneurs, and we were excited to give them a place to showcase what they do. A huge thank-you goes out to every vendor who joined us and helped make our first Block Party something special.

Creativity Took Over the Sidewalk

Another highlight of the evening was our Chalk the Walk competition.

Participants were given their own sidewalk spaces and spent the evening turning them into colorful works of art. By the time judging began, the sidewalks in front of Cassill Motors were filled with creative designs, and choosing our winners was no easy task.

It was fun watching each piece take shape throughout the night and seeing how much creativity everyone brought to the competition.

Most importantly, we want to thank everyone who came out and spent the evening with us.

Whether you competed in Chalk the Walk, visited the vendors, grabbed some food, brought the kids out for the activities, or simply stopped by to see what was going on, we appreciate you being part of our first Block Party.

Cassill Motors has been part of the Cedar Rapids community for generations, and events like this give us another opportunity to connect with the people who make this community such a great place to call home.
